2019 Kiepersol Estates Winery SyrahTexas more |
5/1/2024 - WineNerd76 Likes this wine: 93 pointsPale ruby in color; black cherries, dried herbs, and tabacco on the nose; medium plus acidity; medium tannins; tastes like blackberry jam, blueberries, a hint of green peppercorns, and a little eucalyptus with a long finish. It may have a little residual sugar, but I could be wrong. Lots of fruit. Delicious. Nellie doesn't like it, but I do. |

11/25/2023 - Wine Of The Moment Likes this wine: 87 pointsThis beautiful estate wine initial pour is fruit forward with red fruit aromas. Black cherries and currant are some additional notes followed by blueberries and blackberries for this lovely red wine. You might pick up hints of vanilla, as well. It is smooth and elegant on the palate with medium tannins and a touch of spice on the finish. This easy drinking Cab is a treat to enjoy both with and without a food pairing. Cheers! |

9/28/2023 - Wine Of The Moment Likes this wine: 89 pointsThis rich estate sourced fruit is a Bordeaux-style blend that is worth savoring. It is a blend of 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Cabernet Franc, and 12% Merlot with immediate notes of plum and cherry followed by some smokiness. Swirl, gaze, and sip and you might pick up some chocolate along with a touch of vanilla. This medium bodied East Texas wine has smooth tannins and decent acids. The silky finish will have you sold on this Texas 2017 vintage. Cheers! |

7/21/2023 - Discobiscuits42 wrote: 83 pointsSyrah aged in american oak. Very very oaky adds very significant vanilla and smoke notes which crushes the natural grape characteristics into submission. Not much typicity. Pretty big in stature. At $63/bottle, I think this wine is very overpriced. |

7/15/2022 - Wine Of The Moment Likes this wine: 90 pointsGoing way back when to the early days of Kiepersol, this initial 2005 vintage port is still holding up quite well. A blend of Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah, it not only still maintains its strength, but also presents rich notes of raspberry and blackberry. The diverse flavors also shine with dried fruit and chocolate in there to delight the palate. At 18.5% abv, there is no chance of being unhappy with this after dinner pleaser. Save your best balsamic or merlot cheese for a great after dinner pairing. A lovely evening sipper worth every delicious drop. Cheers! |

7/6/2022 - flo.bush@sbcglobal.net Likes this wine: 85 pointsA little thick, as if perhaps aged in oak, with a little buttery feel. Peach and pear on the nose. Nice mouth feel, as I like medium to heavier whites. Supposed to be akin to Pinot Gris, but it's heavier, which I prefer. The finish, however, has a little bitterness, as associated with stone fruits. Overall, a nice white. |

5/1/2016 - Justinneal654 wrote: 86 pointsA light clean nose with elements of plum. A juicy and bright early palate with blackberry and followed by dark cherries and a satisfying dry finish. I could see it with food quite nicely. The absence of oak seems to keep it from being as overpowering and dominant as other cabs. |

12/5/2017 - mflesh wrote: 93 pointsOpened this one up and kept it subtly on the table. Before I knew it, the bottle was gone. I had it as well, and wow, mama. This wine drinks better than Syrahs at twice the price point, and for a Texas Syrah! This goes to show you that the Syrah at Kiepersol is really quite amazing. This is one bad mammajamma. Lots of candied black fruit, licorice, allspice, cinnamon, finish is complex and has GRIP! The entire bottle gone in record time. The thing I remember 30 minutes later is dark chocolate covered cherries . This bottle probably is right at the height of its drinking window. Settled down after about 30 minutes. Was gone in about 45. Best enjoy window 2017-2019. If you have this bottle, drink it with an hour decant! Nice and spicy! |

2010 Kiepersol Estates Winery Zinfandel RoséTexas more |
3/27/2017 - Wine Of The Moment Likes this wine: 86 pointsWhat an absolutely, lovely treat to have tucked away and rediscovered! This elegant White Zinfandel was beautiful in sight, smell, and taste! We were happy to see how nicely this wine held up with aging and it literally tasted spectacular. It had a nice bright raspberry color with pleasant floral aromas on the nose. The raspberry and light strawberry notes were still well intact along with a long apricot finish. This sweet fruit forward chilled beauty was just what we needed on a warm evening to help shake off our workday cares. Don’t overlook the chance to pick up any of Kiepersol’s White Zinfandel for those upcoming spring and summer evenings when you need to reach for something sweet, refreshing, and truly a delight to drink. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed drinking this one! |

5/20/2017 - rojoloco Likes this wine: 92 pointsLovely syran from the 2013 vintage. All their syrahs are delicious. This one, a touch young, was just a little chewy upon opening but settled down quickly and was consumed over two days. Delicious juice frome East Texas, outside Tyler. If you go anywhere near there, make it a destination. B and B and lovely restaurant. |

It has been stored at 55 degrees since purchase. Served up pop and pour, this wine gave me a very nice surprise. After 10 minutes, the bouquet and front of this wine we're quite enjoyable. Definitely a dark expression with a little bit of plum, earthy blackberry, cumin, and a middle that had a little bit of green pepper. Finishes still a bit spicy, and actually quite robust. I am thoroughly impressed with this wine. Made by a legendary Texas winemaker who has recently passed, this offering goes to show you what can truly be made from grapes grown not more than two hours east of the DFW metroplex! I am not sure this one really has much additional holding potential. So drink now and enjoy! |
